Pedal Car Restoration
A full restoration requires a break down into several work phases, and the costs involved will vary depending on the type of vehicle being restored, its condition before restoration, and the amount of work to be done:
  • Metal, body, and paint work
  • Replacement of any parts & ball bearings
  • Chrome/stainless rechroming-repolishing
  • Interior
To begin with, the pedal car is completely disassembled and the chassis rebuilt by reconditioning the existing parts and or replacing parts where necessary. The choice of parts depends on whether the pedal car is being restored to original, or customized. The running gear and its components are sand blasted to remove all of the old paint and then either painted or powder coated in a weather resistant finish. All hardware is stainless steel  which makes the hardware look brand new.

Any apparent rust is repaired, and the paint is removed through a combination of sand blasting.

The body is primed and block sanded at least three times before paint. All of it's components are painted separately, and  they are repainted as one unit to insure uniformity of color. We use PPG paint products which we feel are the best offered an have been working with for over 33 years.

All work is coordinated so the restored of the running gear is ready for the body as soon as the body is painted.
Once the body is painted including clear coated work is done, the paint is color sanded and hand rubbed to a beautiful finish. The trim is put back on, and the interior is installed.

Time frame is about eight months to complete a project, depending on its model. Payment is required to start the work, and billing is done monthly. Pictures of the work are posted on this website under the customers name:
